The Industrial Engineering program at ASU is ranked 14th in the nation—third among Western U.S. research universities—by U.S. News & World Report. We are one of 150 programs in the US, 91 of which are accredited. We have the finest faculty in industrial statistics in the world. We have produced the top IE student in the nation three times in the last nine years, and our student IIE chapter has won the Gold Award for an unprecedented seven years in a row.
We have a medium-sized undergraduate program, with around 220 students, and a large graduate program, with over 200 students and more than 50 Ph.D. candidates.
Our faculty is moderately large, with more than 21 full-time equivalents. Our current research expenditures are approximately $2 million per year.

The mission of the Department is to provide high quality, innovative industrial engineering education and research opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students and to encourage them to individualize their education through entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary courses and growth experiences, to foster discovery by faculty and students; to support the economic growth and enhancement of quality of life in Arizona and beyond; to provide an academic environment conducive to the best development of students, faculty and staff; and to promote the growth and effectiveness of the industrial engineering profession.
