Six Sigma Black Belt Projects

In demonstrate practical Six Sigma skills, course participants will develop and complete a Six Sigma Black Belt project (IEE 598 Six Sigma Methodology Capstone Project). The project will be typical of those used to certify Six Sigma Black Belts in industry, and will involve both oral and written presentation of results. The project expectations are as follows:

  • Must use the DMAIC approach
  • Must demonstrate effective use of the appropriate statistical tools
  • Must demonstrate payback or bottom line business impact to the sponsor
  • Must demonstrate other Six Sigma skills (project management, leadership, presentation, etc.) as appropriate
  • Must be written in an acceptable manner
  • Must be presented orally to the sponsor.

Students need to submit an actual Six Sigma industry project report to mark completion of the certificate program curriculum. Below are resources and guidelines on how to write your report and some project examples.
