While other engineering fields are known by the products that they design, industrial engineers are known for the systems they design. Industrial engineers are interested in the “big picture”. They are concerned with integrating people, equipment, material, and information in order to increase quality and reduce cost. Industrial engineers find exciting jobs in all types of organizations, including manufacturing, banking, transportation, health care, telecommunications, consulting, and government. A BSE degree in industrial engineering is also an excellent foundation for advanced degrees. Our graduates frequently go on to study law, medicine, and business. As industrial engineers, they learn to model and analyze complex problems independent of the setting.
The profession of industrial engineering is a profession committed to improvement. IE's are never satisfied with the status quo. Our department has implemented this commitment by applying continuous improvement to our coursework and curriculum design. Our alumni, advisory board, students, faculty, and industry partners are always anxious to provide input to help achieve this goal.
To be successful at ASU and the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering, the student must also be familiar with the ASU General Catalog for the year in which they entered Arizona State University.
